Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a game chock-full of guns, soldiers and explosions, will blow gamers’ minds with its cutting-edge graphics and realistic game play. The game, a huge upgrade from the first Modern Warfare, is amazing in most aspects.
The new weapons, new characters, and great multiplayer mode make this one of the best games in years.
The game consists of three modes: the all-new Special Operatives, the much anticipated, greatly improved multiplayer, and the below average campaign mode.
The Special Operatives mode offers endlessly addicting gameplay. The beauty of Special Operatives mode is that each mission is completely different: one mission may include covert-op sniping, another bomb disarming and yet another close-range shotgunning.
Some of the challenges require co-op play (One mission has a player fighting his way to the objective on the ground while the other blasts enemies from the AC130 gunship). With no leaderboards, these missions are mostly just for fun and pride.Who can complete the mission fastest?
The crown jewel of Modern Warfare 2 has to be the improved multiplayer mode. The most popular part of the first Modern Warfare returns with new guns, customizable killstreaks and crazy good graphics that transport you from your La-Z-Boy into a Russian war zone.
New guns like the UMP45 and SCAR-H create a brand new feel to the first-person shooter experience. Add gun attachments like heartbeat sensors (which sense nearby enemy’s heartbeats) and thermal scopes (which allow you to see enemies through smoke), and the game’s producers have an equation for greatness.
There is also a new perk which allows you to have more than one attachment on guns, adding a wide variety of options for all weapons.
A multitude of customizable killstreaks allow players to use stealth bombers and even a tactical nuke (the nuke automatically ends the game, giving the user’s team the win).
Maps often have drastic altitude changes, making for great sniping positions, while not allowing players to camp out at one spot the entire match.
The campaign, though very hard to follow, wields originality in its plot line.Unfortunately, campaign gameplay only lasts about five and a half hours for even moderate gamers, which is way too short for more eager, dedicated players .
But not too worry, the non-stop adrenaline rush makes gamers feel like they have been thrown right into battle, fighting their way through the crowded streets of Rio De Janeiro, Siberian blizzards filled with enemy patrols and even an invaded Washington D.C.
Action alone will make gamers forget about the very confusing story line.
But all in all, the game is great. Throw in a musical composition by Hans Zimmer, the world-renowned composer of over 100 movies, and the game is a masterpiece. It will be hailed as one of the greatest games out today, or at least until the next Call of Duty comes out.
