Twelve percent: number of Mo. families suffering from the fear of starvation. 19 percent: number of Mo. citizens on food stamps. 13 percent: poverty rate in Mo.

To address our communities issues, Rockhurst will hold the annual Harvest Food Drive Nov. 16 through Nov. 20, ending with a pep assembly.

The Harvest Food Drive committee, headed by seniors Jack Evans and Bradley Wiedeman, plans to achieve its goals of $20,000 and 10,000 cans through homeroom collections and designated bins located in the Barry Commons and the cafeteria.

This year’s committee has held preliminary meetings on the potential changes that will be presented during this year’s drive.

“Although they are preliminary ideas, the consensus is we are going to get a new banner, and a new slogan,” Evans said.

The updated banner will feature the new chesty hawklet, the food drive logo and a new slogan which is yet to be determined.
